PETALING JAYA: The anti-graft agency has detained an engineering consultant to allow probe into the Penang undersea tunnel project.

The woman, in her 50s, was arrested when she arrived at the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Agency (MACC) headquarters in Putrajaya at 6.10pm Tuesday (Jan 23).

A source familiar with the investigations said the consultant is believed to be involved in the preparation of fictitious claim documents to the tune of RM305mil for the feasibility studies of the projects involving three main roads and the undersea tunnel to the state government.

The source added that the MACC is investigating whether there were other individuals involved in abetting the falsifying of the documents.
