PETALING JAYA: The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur will continue to provide services for its citizens and visa services despite the US government shutdown.
The Embassy said in a statement on Monday (Jan 22) that previously scheduled appointments remain valid unless there is further notification.
It also said that the website will not be regularly updated with the exception of emergency safety and security information.

The US government shut down at midnight on Friday (Jan 19) and the shutdown remained in effect on Monday after lawmakers failed to agree on a spending bill.
Hundreds of thousands of US federal workers were unable to report for work on Monday as the US Senate continues to negotiate on an agreement.
The last government shutdown was in 2013 and lasted for 16 days.
