Two killed in car-trailer collision

KOTA KINABALU: Two men believed to be siblings were killed and two others injured when the car they were travelling in collided with a trailer at the Lagud Seberang road in Tenom Thursday (Jan 18).
  
The duo, identified as William Eng Vui Yang, 27, and Eng Vui Ying, 26, were with two others – Fo Ket Tang, 27, Wilson Eng Vui Quan, 26 - when the accident happened at about 8.30am.
  
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Khatizah Rahaban said Vui Yang and Vui Ying were pronounced dead by medical officials at the scene.
  
“Fo sustained serious injuries while Wilson suffered minor injuries,” she said.
  
She said the 48-year-old trailer driver escaped with minor injuries.
 
All injured victims have been taken to hospital for further treatment while the deceased were sent for post-mortem.
  
Investigation on the cause of accident is being carried out.
  
Earlier, at about 4.30am, a 58-year-old woman identified as Sze Swee Cheng sustained injuries to her shoulder in a five-vehicle accident along the Lido road near here.
 
A van hit her car from behind, causing the car to spin and hit another vehicle.
 
Sze was later taken to hospital for outpatient treatment.
