Three siblings riding pillion suffer serious injuries after crash

JASIN: Three siblings on their way to school at SJK (T) Merlimau here were seriously injured in an accident outside their school compound on Friday morning.

The three were riding pillion on their 51-year-old father's motorcycle when an oncoming car driven by a 18-year-old rammed into them before colliding into two other cars in the 7.15am incident.

Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Arshad Abu identified the victims as motorcyclist D. Chandran from Kampung Paya Buloh, Merlimau here, his children Siva Shangkari, 12, Sathi, Ravanan, eight and seven-year-old Shanty.

The children suffered head and bodily injuries while Chandran sustained injuries on his right hand and right thigh.

DSP Arshad said the teenage driver also sustained inquires on his chest while the two other drivers escaped unhurt.

He said all the victims are now being treated at Melaka Hospital while police are investigating the case under Section 43 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless and inconsiderate driving.
