CYBERJAYA: The accusations lobbied against me are baseless with no truth to them, says Datuk P. Kamalanathan.

The Deputy Education Minister was referring to a series of allegations made against him on a Facebook page called “TMM 2.0 Extra”, claiming that he had abused his powers by contracting a company to be the ministry’s consultant in overseeing the construction of 39 Tamil schools under the Pakej Rangsangan Khas (Special Stimulus Package) 2012.

“I have made a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commis-sion (MCMC) and will soon make a police report.

“The selection of consultants for this project was done on Feb 16, 2013, by the Finance Ministry, while I was only appointed the Deputy Education Minister on May 16, 2013.

“I was only a Member of Parliament for Hulu Selangor at the time, so are they saying that I was able to give a project even when I wasn’t the Deputy Education Minister then?” he told reporters at the MCMC lobby here yesterday.

Stressing that he was not related to the individual mentioned in the allegation, Kamalanathan said MCMC had said it would investigate the matter under the Sedition and Defamation Acts.

“I want to emphasise that I have nothing to do with any construction company and I see this as an attempt to humiliate me and the ministry,” he said.
