KUALA SELANGOR: Education at religious primary schools will be free if Barisan Nasional recaptures Selangor in the 14th General Election, says Tan Sri Noh Omar (pic).

The Tanjung Karang MP said on top of doing away with school fees at all SRAs (Sekolah Rendah Agama) in Selangor, pupils would also get free textbooks.

''We want to make religious primary school education free for the people, similar to primary-level education at Government schools.

''This will ease the burden of many parents who opt to send their children to SRAs,'' he said when met at Kampung Parit 4 here Friday.

Noh, who is also Urban Well-being, Housing and Local Government Minister, was delivering aid to several poor families.

He said he wanted to bring changes to SRAs in Selangor, which he claimed were lacking in infrastructure and development.

Noh added that he had received many complaints from parents over expensive school fees and textbooks at SRAs, amounting up to RM240 per pupil for each new school term.

''Education is important and it could help change the future of the poor and underprivileged," he said.
