Four suspects detained over assault of family member in front of OUG eatery

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested three men and an Indonesian woman for allegedly assaulting a man in an incident that has since gone viral on social media.

City police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Lazim said police received a report from a 39-year-old man over the incident that occurred in front of a restaurant at Jalan Klang Lama here at about 8.13pm on Friday (Dec 22).

Comm Mazlan said the victim claimed that members of his in-law’s family beat him when he was at the restaurant.

He added that the victim, who suffered injuries on his face and body, later lodged a report at the Petaling police station.

Comm Mazlan said that police managed to arrest the four suspects aged between 44 and 50 the next day (Dec 23) following the incident.

He also urged anyone with information to contact the police to assist the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 324 and 160 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and committing affray, as well as Section 18A of the Domestic Violence Act.
