Man nabbed for firing gunshots freed

GEORGE TOWN: A 27-year-old man who allegedly threatened a contractor by firing gunshots at his double-storey house in January , has been released by the police.

George Town OCPD Asst Comm Anuar Omar said the car sales representative was released on Thursday .

The man had turned himself in at the district police headquarters in Jalan Patani at 8.45am on Tuesday. He was remanded on that day to help police investigate the shooting in Jalan Ismail Che Mat off Jalan P. Ramlee on Jan 10.

According to the police report, the 49-year-old contractor found bullet shell casings in front of his house when he was about to send his child to school at about 6.30am on Jan 10.

Police then recovered 14 pieces of 9mm bullet shell casings in the wall, living room and also the house compound.

Police retrieved a CCTV camera recording, which showed two men on a motorcycle, firing randomly at the man’s house at about 5am that day.
