PETALING JAYA: The Opposition's "politicising" of the Election Commission's (EC) redelineation exercise is to distract the public from its declining popularity, says an aide to the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Datuk Seri Tengku Sariffuddin, who is Najib's press secretary, said that Malaysia, like other democracies, routinely carries out redelineation exercises ahead of elections to reflect population growth.
