KUALA LUMPUR: Anonymity on social media should be protected because some people can only express their thoughts through a pseudonym to protect themselves, said an academician.

University of Nottingham assistant professor Gayathry S. Venkiteswaran said they are unable to speak freely and openly because of their identity and position.
