SHAH ALAM: Employers should increase the salaries of workers who have upgraded their skills and qualifications through courses and by obtaining certificates, said Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem (pic).
The Human Resources Minister said the move was necessary because salaries should be commensurate with an employee's experience and qualifications.
“Even with the minimum wage, I hope employers will seriously consider increasing salaries of the workforce to be on par with their experience and qualifications," he said after presenting the Level 3 Malaysian Skills Certificate to 100 Proton staff at the Proton Technical Training Centre here Thursday (Dec 7).
Riot said that workers who upgraded themselves with greater qualifications deserved a raise with the experience they have.
“Without any salary increase, it will not be commensurate with their job knowledge and abilities,” he said.
