KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (pic) has officially launched the media centre at the Umno annual general assembly (AGM) 2017.
The Deputy Prime Minister said the new media centre at Level 4 of the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) here was previously used as a space for congregational Friday prayers.
"The space is bigger, more comfortable and more conducive," he said during his walkabout around the media centre on Tuesday.
He also expressed his hope that the online media would not be used to spread fake news or slander.
Dr Ahmad Zahid also had breakfast with news editors from the local media fraternity.
Also present was The Star editor-in-chief Datuk Leanne Goh.
About 1,800 members of the media will be on duty at the assembly that takes place from Tuesday to Saturday (Dec 9).
