Portugese community has until Christmas to relocate Christ the Redeemer replica

MELAKA: The Portuguese community in Ujong Pasir has been given until after Christmas to relocate the Rio De Janeiro replica of the Christ the Redeemer statue at the Portuguese Settlement.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Idris Haron said besides being constructed without prior approval from the Melaka Historic City Council (MBMB), the statue has also been erected in a public parking area which can pose risks to the people.
