Raids on 24-hour convenience stores that are fronts for online gambling

MIRI: Sarawak police are going after those who operate 24-hour convenience stores as fronts or to provide reloads for online gambling.

Police raided about 20 such retail outlets last week in Kuching, Miri, Sibu and Bintulu.

These were among the 51 successful raids statewide, with RM19,000 seized and 80 arrests in 13 districts, said Sarawak CID Chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Dev Kumar.

He said that these raids were in addition to those on makeshift gambling dens and illegal 4-D premises.

This was all part of the ongoing “war” against illegal gambling in Sarawak, SAC Dev added.
