ISKANDAR PUTERI: DAP Senai assemblywoman Wong Shu Qi (pic) has been referred to the Johor state assembly special committee for her allegations against Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.
Wong, referring to a report on a website, had claimed that the Mentri Besar received RM12mil, of which RM11.2mil was in cash, from developers to change bumiputera lots to non-bumiputera lots.
“Is this accusation true?” she said during her debate on the state’s 2018 budget at the Johor assembly sitting in Kota Iskandar on Monday (Nov 27).
This irked many Barisan Nasional assemblymen, who asked the Senai representative to retract her allegations.
However, her party colleagues supported her, telling deputy state speaker Datuk Baderi Dasuki that Wong has the right to ask such questions.
However, Baderi said that the case was still in court and whatever discussion inside the state assembly would be contempt of court.
He again asked Wong to wind up her speech immediately and retract the allegations against Mohamed Khaled as it was against the state assembly rules.
She however refused to retract the allegations.
“I would like to merafak sembah (seek an audience) with His Majesty the Sultan of Johor to set up a royal commission to investigate the matter following the revelations that will clear His Majesty’s government if it is not involved,” she said.
Baderi then asked for a count of votes among the present assemblymen, which received more than the required amount for her to be referred to the special committee.
When met outside the assembly, Wong said that she would still not retract her allegations and stood by them.
However she declined to reveal the name of the website and asked journalists to find it on their own.
