Cops: No truth in kidnap attempt of pupil near Port Dickson army camp

PORT DICKSON: Police have denied claims that a man attempted to kidnap a pupil who was being taken to school in a military truck at an army camp at KM9 Jalan Pantai near here.

OCPD Supt Zainudin Ahmad said the man was actually mentally challenged and had only tried to walk up a ladder at the rear of the truck.
"The story that is being viralled is that a man had actually tried to kidnap the pupil.

"The truth is that there were several pupils in the truck and they were being ferried to school and there was no attempt by the man or anyone else to kidnap any one of them," he said.

Supt Zainudin said an army personnel and a policeman who was present during the incident around 12.30pm on Tuesday then took the man to the police station.

"The man's family came a short while later and took him home," he said.

Supt Zainudin advised the public not to spread unsubstantiated news.

He said doing so would only create unnecessary panic.

"Legal action can also be taken against anyone who spreads false news," he added.
