GEORGE TOWN: The bodies of 10-year-old Lim Yin Chun and his nine-year-old sister Jia Ying were cremated at Batu Gantung crematorium at 11.10am on Sunday (Nov 19).

Both Yin Chun and Jia Ying were the children of Tanjung MCA Youth chief Lim Swee Bok.

Two hearses carrying their coffins left the Sri Saujana Flats on Macallum Street Ghaut at 10.30am after funeral rites attended by some 100 relatives and friends, including their schoolmates, class teachers, MCA leaders and representatives from the Penang State Youth Council.

Many of them broke down in tears especially their grandmother, Chen Li Hua, who flew in from China.

After witnessing the cremation ceremony, Swee Bok returned to the Sri Saujana Flats to prepare for the funeral of his 35-year-old wife Chen Yan and 62-year-old mother Lau Sai Poh.

The cremation of Chen and Lau is scheduled for 2pm.

Swee Bok’s children, wife and mother were killed in the blaze that gutted his two-storey house in Pintasan Cecil here at about 6am on Wednesday (Nov 15).

Firemen found three bodies huddled together in the toilet while the body of Jia Ying was found on the first floor.
