MIRI: SK Kg Bulau in the sub-district of Bekenu was closed after both the school and the village were inundated by floodwaters a metre high.

Students were asked to go home until further notice.

The Civil Defence Department has deployed teams to the site to check on the needs of the villagers, said its Miri department chief Capt Mohd Hazle Shah.

Floodwaters there have been rising since Monday (Nov 13) due to heavy rain that caused nearby rivers to overflow their banks, he said.

So far no evacuation has been ordered in the village that is located about 60km south of Miri.
