MIRI: The Fire and Rescue Department has come to the aid of STPM students hit by floods in rural places in central Sarawak.

The Bomba units in Bintangor district in central Sarawak deployed boats and personnel to flood-hit longhouses to bring students to their schools for their STPM exams on Thursday morning.

Rumah Rabong Strass, located in the rural Bintangor district, was under about six feet of water, blocking the access road.

Bomba Sarawak said the roads leading to these rural settlements were hit by flash floods caused by incessant rain.

“Starting at 7am, Bomba deployed boats and personnel to the places hit by flash floods after receiving calls for help,” it said in a statement.

The Bomba boats are also helping people buy food and supplies.
