Sudden floods lead to Sarawak school being closed

MIRI: SK Kg Nyalau in the Bintulu district of northern Sarawak was closed Tuesday and its 200 pupils and staff ordered to be evacuated after the area was hit by floods.

Incessant rain saw the area inundated by a metre of water by noon on Tuesday.

The State Fire and Rescue Department in a report said the school was closed for safety reasons.

All the pupils and staff have been moved to safer ground, it added.
