SHAH ALAM: Selangor exco member Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad has criticised Red Shirts leader Datuk Seri Jamal Md Yunos' action of protesting outside a residential project in Semenyih.
He also questioned the Sungai Besar Umno division chief's decision to take up the issue of affordable housing when it has been addressed in the ongoing Selangor state legislative assembly sitting.
"Questions on affordable housing in Semenyih have been brought up in the sitting and lawmakers have already debated on the topic and were given explanations,” said Iskandar.
He added that it is strange that Jamal staged a demonstration when Barisan Nasional lawmakers had already brought up the matter in the House.
"Are there groups in Selangor Umno that do not trust the lawmakers' abilities?" Iskandar told the press on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting here Tuesday.
On Monday (Nov 13), Jamal protested outside a new luxury residential project in Semenyih, claiming that the affordable housing at a site there could not be found.
Clad in a sarong, Jamal claimed that Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was fooling the people by making promises to build affordable homes there under the Rumah Selangorku scheme.
He also said he would stay inside a tent in front of the housing project's entrance for three nights in protest of Selangor's failure to build affordable homes in Semenyih.
