Waiter jailed for rubbing colleague's buttock

PETALING JAYA: A waiter of a fast food restaurant was sentenced to 12 months' in jail and given two strokes of the rotan for rubbing a colleague's buttock.

Magistrate Zaki Asyraf Zubir meted out the sentences against Mohamad Mikael Mohamad Hasni, 23, Thursday after he admitted to the charge.

Mohamad Mikael was charged with molesting the 18-year-old victim by rubbing her buttock at a fast food restaurant in Damansara Damai here at 8pm on Oct 21 and was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code.

In asking for leniency, the accused who was unrepresented, asked for a lighter sentence as he is getting married in February.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Fazeedah Faik urged the court to hand down a harsher sentence as it involved a sexual offence, taking into consideration public safety.
