PETALING JAYA: Malaysia took part in the inaugural Bahrain International Defence Exhibition & Conference 2017 (Bidec) in an effort to forge closer ties with the Persian Gulf nations.

The move, which was the idea of Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein, was to strengthen Malaysia's interests with the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC).
