PETALING JAYA: Two men, including a police officer, were hurt when a commotion broke out after the Malaysia Cup semi-final football match between Perak and Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT).

The altercation happened outside the Perak Stadium in Ipoh on Sunday (Oct 15) night, after the match.

It is understood that a fan suffered injuries to his stomach from an exploding firecracker.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong said police arrested seven people for fighting near Gate F at the stadium around 10.50pm.

"Those arrested are all from Perak, aged between 18 and 29.

"All do not have criminal records," he said, adding that the case would be investigated under Section 160 of the Penal Code.

ACP Sum said the situation was brought under control at around midnight.

The atmosphere outside the Perak stadium became tense when a quarrel broke out between supporters of both clubs.

It is learnt that despite tight security, supporters did not leave the premises even though they were told to do so by the authorities.

The Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) then had to intervene and make supporters leave the stadium. – Sinar Harian
