GEORGE TOWN: Two men have been charged at the magistrate's court here with murdering a 33-year-old man.

Mohamad Ramzan Saini Anuar, 24, and Mohd Yusri Mohamed, 38, were jointly charged with causing the death of Lim Kok Boon by assaulting him with a helmet.

The crime was allegedly committed at the rubbish disposal area at the 14th floor of Block B of the Kampung Melayu flats in Air Itam here at around 10.10pm on Sept 22.

No plea was recorded.

Both men were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries a mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid fixed Dec 7 for mention pending the post-mortem report.

DPP Mohamad Shafiq Mohd Sazalli prosecuted while the accused were unrepresented.

It was reported that Lim died three days after the attack, succumbing to head injuries at about 10am on Sept 25.

The two accused were allegedly packing drugs in the 14th floor rubbish room when Lim walked in on them.

The men quickly threw away the drugs, thinking Lim was a policeman, but then attacked him when they finally recognised him.
