Duo charged with man's murder in Air Itam

GEORGE TOWN: Two men have been charged at a magistrate's court here with murdering a 33-year-old man.  

The two are 24-year-old Mohamad Razman Saini Anuar and 38-year-old Mohd Yusri Mohamed, who are jointly charged with causing the death of Lim Kok Boon.  

The victim was allegedly assaulted with a helmet at a rubbish disposal area at the 14th floor of Block B at the Kampung Melayu flats in Air Itam here at around 10.10pm on Sept 22.  

No plea was recorded.   

Both men were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.  

Magistrate Mohamad Amin Shahul Hamid fixed Dec 7 for mention pending a post-mortem report.  

DPP Mohamad Shafiq Mohd Sazalli prosecuted while the accused were unrepresented.  

It was reported that the duo were packing drugs in the 14th floor rubbish room when Lim walked in on them.  

The men quickly threw away the drugs as they thought Lim was a policeman.  

The accused started to attack Lim when they saw that he was someone they knew.

Lim died three days after the attack, succumbing to head injuries.
