KEPONG: Fire and Rescue Department personnel once again showed their knack of dealing with distressing situations - this time helping to remove a toy traffic cone that got stuck on a boy’s head.

Pictures of the incident were circulating on social media with netizens commending the firemen’s professionalism in dealing with the situation.

When contacted, Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department director Khirudin Drahman said a team of firemen was patrolling the Kepong Business Park area in Taman Sri Segambut when they heard someone from a nearby international school calling out for help at around 11am last Friday.

“When they went to investigate, they found a boy with a cone stuck on his head and immediately helped remove the item before the situation became more serious,” he said, adding that it took firemen two minutes to free the boy.

After he was freed, the boy ran away from his rescuers before they could ask him how he got himself into the sticky situation.

"He didn’t sustain any serious injuries but it seemed like he had difficulty communicating as he was a foreigner,” Khirudin said.

The firemen then left to resume their patrolling duties.
