PUTRAJAYA: The task force on tahfiz will recommend an amendment to the Education Act 1996 (Act 550) to allow the registration of private religious schools including tahfiz, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said the Act currently does not define schools that teach solely religious subjects as private schools, and as such, many tahfiz (religious schools) are not registered with the authorities.
