A smartphone application to report the wrongdoings that members of the public witness has received good response.

FIVE months ago, the police force launched the Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) app for the public to report about crimes in their surroundings. More than 700,000 people have since downloaded the app, seeking to be the eyes and ears of the men in blue. Bukit Aman’s Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Comm Datuk Tajudin Md Isa says the VSP is a platform where people can work together with the police in crime prevention – since its March 25 launch, the police have received complaints ranging from illegal gambling to even traffic congestion.
