KOTA KINABALU: Maritime officers are searching for a fishing vessel that was reported stranded due to an engine malfunction on Saturday night.

Sabah and Labuan Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) regional director First Admiral Zubil Mat Som said they sent a team out in search of the stranded vessel at 6.50am on Sunday.

"From the report received, 12 fishermen are on board the vessel," he said.

He said the vessel was reported stranded near the St Joseph oil rig in the waters off here.
