Cop among three killed in crash in Terengganu


KUALA TERENGGANU: Three people, including a policeman, were killed in a two-vehicle collision on Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kota Baru near Setiu on Sunday morning.

Faiezal Abdul Kayim, 42, who works at the Pekan district police headquarters in Pahang, and his friend Ahmad Zaki Baharudin, 37, died on the spot while Nur Lyza Syahira Ahmad Hazly, 17, who was in a separate car died at the Setiu Hospital.

Faiezal and two friends were heading to Kota Baru from Kuala Terengganu when their Proton collided with the car driven by Nur Lyza Syahira, which was coming from the opposite direction, at 3.30am.

The driver of the Proton, Mohd Hizami Abdul Halim, 32, suffered minor injuries while Nur Laila  Zukiman, 15, a passenger in the other car, was seriously injured. Another passenger, Mohd Hasraf Abdullah, 17, suffered broken teeth.

Setiu district police chief DSP Zulkifli Mat Deris said the bodies of the victims had been sent to the Setiu Hospital, while those injured were receiving treatment at the same hospital. - Bernama
