65 flood victims evacuated to relief centres in Perak


IPOH: Some 65 people were evacuated to relief centres after flash floods hit four villages near Selama on Sunday night.

The affected villages are Kampung Parit Dalam, Kampung Sungai Bedarah, Kampung Garok and Kampung Sungai Setar.

"About 33 people from Kampung Parit Dalam are now taking shelter at the Surau Al Aminiah in Banggol Jas," a Civil Defence Department spokesman said.

Meanwhile, a family of seven from Kampung Sungai Bedarah and 11 Kampung Garok villagers were relocated to the Al Zaziah Masjid in Sungai Bayor at 11pm.

In Kampung Sungai Setar, 14 people are being temporarily housed at the community hall.

The flash floods followed a heavy downpour which started at about 8pm.
