KUANTAN: More than 4,000 jobs are up for grabs at the Alliance Steel job fair at the Sultan Ahmad Shah International Convention Centre here.

The two-day fair, launched yesterday, offers job seekers both entry-level and senior-level roles.

The jobs range from technical, engineering, supervisory and management positions to support Alliance Steel’s operation at the upcoming Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park here.

Alliance Steel deputy project commander Hu Jiu Lin said they hope to fill as many vacancies as possible.

“Through Alliance Steel’s intensive training and support as well as attractive benefits, including training at our main facilities in China, our employees are able to obtain exceptional learning experience and work in an environment that will help them reach their full potential.

“We highly encourage Malaysians to build their careers with us,” she said.

Among the benefits offered by Alliance Steel are medical outpatient allowance, meals, accommodation and transportation allowance for employees who stay more than 30km away from the facility.

Also present were Pahang State Executive Councillor for Health, Human Resources and Special State Duties Datuk Norol Azali Sulaiman and East Coast Economic Region (ECER) Development Council chief executive officer Datuk Seri Jebasingam Issace John.

John said they also intend to hold the fair in Kelantan and Terengganu depending on the number of vacancies available.

“The strong bilateral relationship between China and Malaysia provides added confidence for the company to invest in the ECER,” he said.

Alliance Steel has committed to invest RM5.6bil to develop a modern integrated iron and steel mill with a production capacity of 3.5 million tonnes.

It will be operational in phases by end of this year with full operation early next year.
