THE Cabinet has unanimously agreed to give judges the right to decide on the appropriate sentence for drug-trafficking cases under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said answered Ramkarpal Singh (DAP-Bukit Gelugor) that a memorandum on a proposed amendment to Section 39B, which carries the mandatory death penalty, would be handed to the Cabinet.
