GELANG PATAH: The Johor Crown Prince has unveiled the new Johor Darul Ta' zim (JDT) football stadium design here on Friday.
Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, who is also Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president, launched the stadium's concept - inspired by the banana leaf - at a ceremony held at Forest City here.
He was accompanied by his wife Che Puan Khaleeda Bustamam and their princess Tunku Kalsom Aminah Sofiah Binti Tunku Ismail.
Country Garden Pacificview Sdn Bhd executive director Datuk Md Othman Yusof said the stadium, spanning over 140,000 sq m, would be built by Forest City, and has a built-up area of about 70,000 sq m.
"The stadium is expected to accommodate up to 40,000 spectators complete with a natural grass field, advanced sound and live broadcast system," he said at the ceremony.
The stadium would be the home of the JDT football club, popularly known as the Southern Tigers. Its facilities include VVIP boxes and a fan club.
