Navy man who first raised the flag

JOHOR BARU: Retired navy officer Lt-Kdr (R) Mohamed Sarif Kalam stands tall as a man who played a memorable role in our nation’s history.

Sixty years ago, on Aug 31, 1957, together with two other navy officers, he hoisted the Malayan flag which was making its debut, at the then newly constructed Stadium Merdeka.
