PAC to decide on which ministries to haul up soon

PETALING JAYA: The Public Accounts Committee will decide soon which ministries and departments are to be hauled up following the release of the Auditor-General’s Report 2016 Series 1 in Parliament.

Its chairman Datuk Hasan Ariffin said the PAC received the financial statements of all the ministries as well as departments and federal statutory bodies.

“We have received 145 financial statements as of July 28,” Hasan told reporters yesterday.

“Of the number, 46 have been issued with certificates without reprimand while 99 others are still being audited. We expect to issue all certificates by Aug 31.”

Auditor-General Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad said she was “generally satisfied” as the ministries and departments were able to successfully deliver on their main objectives.

“It’s only on the sampling that we picked up is where there is some room for improvement,” she said.

“This is especially true for establishing guidelines for programme implementation and also to tighten up supervision and monitoring of certain programmes.”

Earlier, the A-G’s department briefed the PAC during a closed-door meeting.
