PARIT: Umno does not practise the politics of fear but believes in the politics of giving hope to the people, said Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
The Prime Minister said there was no need for the party to destroy hope as it would not benefit the people.
"If the people feel there's no future, there'll be chaos and confusion and people will be directionless.
"People only play politics of fear when they are not in power to bring down the people in power," he said in his speech during the opening of the Parit Umno annual general meeting here on Saturday.
"For 60 years, we've shown that we can govern and contribute much to the country and its people," he said.
Najib said there were only two choices, Barisan Nasional or Pakatan Harapan.
"The reality of Malaysian politics, is you either choose Barisan, led by Umno or Pakatan, led by DAP.
"How can a 'parti bunga' (PPBM) with only one seat lead? It does not make sense," he asked.
"It also does not make sense to have a pensioner lead," he added, in apparent reference to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
