PETALING JAYA: MIC has questioned DAP lawmaker Tony Pua over his continued silence on allegations of corruption in Penang.

The party's treasurer-general Datuk Seri S. Vell Paari (pic) said that since Pua liked talking about corruption issues, he should also address these issues in Penang, where Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been charged with graft.

"Why is Tony Pua keeping an elegant silence on this?" said Vell Paari in a statement, referring to Pua's comments that he was elected to check corruption and not to debate about drains or potholes.

Pua had made the remarks to Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said over questions on 1MDB in Parliament on Tuesday.

Vell Paari said Pua might have forgotten that he once said that Lim must go on leave if he is charged in court.

"However, until today, Lim has not gone on leave and Pua has 'forgotten' what he said previously," he said.

Vell Paari also questioned how DAP could work with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, considering the party had previously accused the former prime minister of many scandals.

He said by working with Dr Mahathir, was Pua now saying that all the DAP propaganda against Dr Mahathir was just a lie to the public.
