Datuk Seri Dr Ahamd Zahid Hamidi

PUTRAJAYA: Malaysia's security laws are not used to silence political dissent, said Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, refuting claims that such measures are being taken against those opposing the Government.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who was dismissing a US State Department report on the issue, said incidents of political arrests happened when Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad was the prime minister and when the Internal Security Act was still in place.
