PETALING JAYA: Who has not heard of the legendary musician Quincy Jones, the man behind the glorious career of Michael Jackson by producing albums such as Off the Wall and Thriller?
Recently, Malaysian-born singer Yuna was fortunate to interview Quincy at the launch of JBL Audio E55BT Quincy Edition wireless headphones in Los Angeles.
Excited by the opportunity, 31-year old Yuna took to Instagram to share her emotions.
"The best musician in this lifetime! I can't even believe I get to do this! I was honoured to speak with @QuincyDJones about the contemporary artistes who inspire him at the launch of the @jblaudio E55BT Quincy Edition," she wrote in her post on July 5.
Along with her post, Yuna shared a one-minute clip of the interview with Quincy where he shared that he thought highly of Kendrick Lamar, Bruno Mars, Ludacris as well as Esperanza Spalding and Joey Alexander.
"Though he is only 13, he plays like Herbie Hancock. It's exciting to see a young boy bring back music to where it was and they are all amazing," he said.
On July 8, Quincy himself wrote on his Facebook page that "I've spent my career reaching backwards and looking forward, paying tribute to the teachers and visionaries who came before me while making something new that might inspire another generation of creators."
"Yuna embodies that commitment with her own forward-reaching sound, while paying respect to her influences, and I absolutely love that about her," he added.
