THE Malaysian Indian Goldsmiths and Jewellers Association (Migja) has urged the authorities to recognise the industry as a manufacturing business, and to help resolve its foreign labour shortage, Malaysia Nanban reported.
Migja president Datuk Abdul Rasull Abdul Razak said goldsmiths and jewellers are categorised under the service industry, which makes it difficult for them to bring in skilled artisans and jewellery makers, especially from Tamil Nadu, India.
