GEORGE TOWN: A motorist had a rude shock when firecrac-kers went off right in front of his moving car along the Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway here.

However, it was unknown whether the firecrackers were hurled onto the road from another car, or from a high-rise nearby.

The incident took place at about 12.15am on Friday when the motorist was driving towards Bayan Baru from George Town.

The driver subsequently uploaded a 28-second video of the entire episode on social media which was captured by the dashboard camera in the car.

Penang Kini’s Facebook page also shared the video with its caption: “Imagine if the driver has heart attack or the driver was frightened and lost control of the vehicle.”

A netizen, known as Shaz Mac, said he dreaded what would happen if the firecrackers had exploded beneath the car near the petrol tank.

George Town Deputy OCPD Supt V. Saravanan urged the driver to lodge a police report over the incident.

He advised motorists to be responsible and not to endanger other road users.
