PUTRAJAYA: The public also plays an important part in guarding the nation against extremism, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
“I would like to say that the best form of control against militant beliefs and extremism comes from the people themselves,” Najib said in a live interview with a local television station during his Hari Raya open house on Sunday.
He added that Malaysians can celebrate festivities freely without fear if people are not influenced by militants and their extremist ideologies.
“This is what we must defend forever,” he said, adding that unity is very important as it is the foundation for political stability and confidence among all parties.
He also praised the nation’s security forces, which he said have always been “excellent” in ensuring the country's peace and security.
The Prime Minister also said he was happy to receive visitors at his open house as it added more joy to the festivity.Around 70,000 people are expected to visit the Seri Perdana Complex on Sunday for the open house.
