Traffic building up on major highways on Raya eve

PETALING JAYA: Slow traffic is reported on all major highways on Saturday morning as people rush back to their hometowns on the eve of Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.

As of 9am, PLUS Highway on its twitter account (@plustrafik) said that northbound traffic was slow due to a heavier volume of vehicles.

Slow moving traffic is reported from Meru heading towards North Ipoh, and from Jelapang to the Sungai Perak rest area.

Traffic is also heavy after the Menora Tunnel heading towards Kuala Kangsar and from Bukit Berapit to the Bukit Gantang rest area.

Traffic is also reported to be a slow from Gopeng to Simpang Pulai.

The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) also reported on its Twitter account (@LLMinfotrafik) of slow moving traffic from Putra Mahkota to Nilai and from the Seremban rest area to Seremban.

Meanwhile, the East Coast Expressway on its Twitter handle (@LPTTrafik) is reporting congestion before the Gombak toll plaza heading towards Kuantan, Bukit Tinggi and Bentong.

Waze is also reporting a one hour delay at the Jalan Central Spine road in Kuala Lipis.

At the Kuala Lumpur – Karak Expressway, Waze is reporting at least a two hour delay due to heavy traffic.

Southbound traffic is also reported to be slow from Senawang to Hentian Senawang.

PLUS also reported of an accident heading towards Ayer Hitam to Yong Peng.

Congestion is also reported along the Second Link Expressway at the Tanjung Kupang checkpoint in Gelang Patah.
