Thousands flock to buy meat at festival


Patiently waiting: Villagers queuing up to purchase fresh beef during the ‘State People Aid Raya Beef Festival’ at the open space of the multi-purpose hall of Taman Wira Mergong in Alor Setar, Kedah yesterday.

ALOR SETAR: Some 10,000 people thronged Barisan Nasional service centres in the state to buy beef for Hari Raya.

The meat was offered at RM24 per kg, compared to around RM33 per kg on the market, during the Raya Beef Selling Festival which started from 8am at 21 locations. Each person was allocated up to 2kg.
