E-hailing operators told to install SOS button in app

An Uber spokesman said outdated laws will prevent millions of Europeans from accessing a reliable ride at the tap of a button.

KUALA LUMPUR: All e-hailing operators in Malaysia will be required to install a panic or SOS button on their app soon, the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) said.

This came after a string of incidents involving passengers using Uber, a popular e-hailing app, with three reported over the past two weeks. The latest involved an alleged molest of a Vietnamese woman by an Uber driver in Penang.
