IPOH: Some RM90,500 worth of drugs were seized and four syndicate members detained following raids at three different houses in Buntong, near here.

Perak deputy police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Zainuddin Yaacob said 2,024.50g of heroin and 569.80g of syabu were seized from the four men aged between 30 and 57.

He said police conducted the raids on June 1 and arrested a man in his 30s at about noon.

“When police went to another house at about 1.30pm, a 54-year-old man was arrested and drugs worth RM89,760 were seized,” he told a press conference at the state police headquarters here yesterday.

Later, two more men were detained and 2.5g of heroin seized at a different location.

DCP Zainuddin said all except the 54-year-old tested positive for morphine.

Three of them had previous drugs and criminal records.

It is believed that the drugs were meant for distribution within Ipoh.

In an unrelated case, DCP Zainuddin said a caretaker of an entertainment outlet in Sitiawan was arrested and drugs worth RM68,053.10 were seized.

He said a car belonging to the man, in his 40s, was also taken during the raid at the outlet in Taman Desa Bintang.

“Drugs such as amphetamine (827.28g), ecstasy pills (27.85g) and ketamine (8.8g) were seized from the outlet.

“The drugs are believed to be for its patrons,” DCP Zainuddin added.

He said all the cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act, which carries the mandatory death sentence on conviction.
