KOTA BARU: Kelantan police gunned down two foreign criminals and detained two more in a shootout at Jalan Salor Baru here on Tuesday night.

State Criminal Investigation Department chief ACP Mohamad Fakri Che Sulaiman said that in the incident at 10pm, police intercepted a car that the suspects were in at Wakaf Che Yeh.

The suspects then sped off towards Jalan Salor before entering a lane where the shootout occurred, he told reporters on Wednesday.

He said police records showed that the four criminals had been involved in a bank robbery case, had eight previous criminal records and were on the police wanted list.

"The two bodies were sent to Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital for post-mortem while the other two suspects have been detained," he said. - Bernama
