PETALING JAYA: In an effort to help Malaysians during the festive season, the Government will begin making 1Malaysia People's Aid (BR1M) payments in stages from June 5.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Finance Ministry said this was in line with Hari Raya Aidilfitri, which is expected to fall on June 25.

"The distribution will involve those who received BR1M during the first stage (in February).

"For applicants who are appealing for the financial aid, it is expected to be distributed on June 17.

"The Government hopes that the BR1M distribution will aid the people to purchase necessities during Hari Raya," the statement said.

It also said that payment will be credited directly into the recipients' bank accounts.

"Those without bank accounts will have their approval letters posted to them to be cashed later at any Bank Simpanan Nasional branch," it added.
